Coming Attractions
For readers on the run or experiencing bouts of short-term memory problems, I’m publishing a collection of my short stories in the fall. The working title is Shoebox Stories and will include two novellas:

Inarticulate Speech of the Heart—Set in Appalachia, this story addresses a couple’s existential crisis in their marriage.

Beauty and the Beast—Set in 18th Century France, it tells the familiar story in the context of shifts generated by the industrial revolution and growing influence of science on French culture.

Birthday Blues—A coming of age story about love at first sight

Forty-six Years and Two Minutes—Set in modern times, this tale addresses the emotional weight of middle age and knee surgery on an amateur basketball player.

Life Happens—An aging Casanova gambles he will beat the odds one more time.

The Rescue—A young girl learns that telling good fortune from bad requires a rearview mirror.

Nostalgia Takes Two—A man faces retirement filled with nostalgia for his past.
The Etaqs Quest for Redemption is the sequel to Now That I’m Dead and is the back-story for the alien presence that has resided on planet Earth since there was water. Fiona’s relationship with the leader of the Etaqs takes on new dimensions in this story as Etaqs seek her help in finding a path that ends their exile on Earth. Full of action and surprises, Fiona’s pod expands to include cameo appearances of historical figures. Summer of 2023.
